There are several types of laws that govern hearing aid dispensing
in the State of Nevada.
|
Within Nevada, the Nevada Revised Statute
(NRS) is written by the Legislature
and can only be changed by them. NRS Chapter 637A gives authority to the
Nevada State Board of Hearing Aid Specialists to perform specific actions,
such as set educational standards for licensing and license renewals.
|
The Nevada Administrative Code
(NAC) or "regulations" arise from the
statutes. NAC Chapter 637A was written by the Nevada State Board of Hearing
Aid Specialists and can only be changed by the Board. It defines the Board's
positions on topics such as educational standards for licensing and license
renewals.
|
Other chapters of Nevada law are cited within NRS and NAC 637A, and
these also apply to hearing aid specialists in Nevada. The Board has adopted
the International Hearing Society's Code of Ethics. A copy is available
from the Board.

In addition, federal regulations regarding hearing aids must be followed.
Municpal and county business laws may also apply.
